Chuck capacity is not hole capacity
“1/2 inch” can describe two different things in drill shopping. A half-inch chuck capacity is the maximum shank size the chuck is designed to hold. It is not an assurance that the drill will bore a half-inch hole through every material.
Cycle 117 short-head/chuck boundary: HXB22 and HXN each state a 5.0-in head, so each passes the ≤6-in head limit; the shared HX body uses a 1/4-in hex holder, not a 1/2-in drill chuck, so neither joins the five current-reference configurations requiring both an inclusive 0.5-in chuck and a short head. Compare the HXB22 kit and HXN bare tool, then keep both exact fit conditions in the finder.
Cycle 116 current result: an inclusive 0.5-in chuck plus maker-stated head length of 6 in or less returns five current-reference configurations. GXL18V-28B22 joins DCD794B/D1 and GSR18V-52B12/B22 because its GSR18V-52 drill has a 1/2-in chuck and 5.7-in head. GSB18V-65B12 meets the chuck rule, but its 6.9-in figure is overall product length and its separate head measurement is unknown; unknown does not pass. This supersedes the earlier four-configuration summary below. Read GXL18V-28B22 and GSB18V-65B12, or apply both same-condition fit choices. A tool-head value is not complete installed clearance.
With earlier=no, an included battery and an inclusive half-inch chuck return 79 current-reference configurations. The new GSB18V-535CB15 and GSB18V-1330CB14 add two exact kit matches with one listed battery each; tool-only GSB18V-490N has a half-inch chuck but is excluded by the package requirement. CB15 lists a 4Ah pack without naming it, while CB14 names GBA18V80 8Ah. Compare CB15, CB14, GSB18V-65B12 and GXL18V-28B22 or apply all three conditions.
With earlier=yes, an included battery and a half-inch-or-larger chuck return 82 configurations: 79 current-reference matches plus three earlier entries. The new GSB18V-535CB15 and GSB18V-1330CB14 add two current kits with one listed battery each; tool-only GSB18V-490N does not pass the battery requirement. Their package contents remain distinct from the B12/B22 kits elsewhere in the guide. Read CB15, CB14, GSB18V-65B12 and GXL18V-28B22, or carry the same three conditions into the finder.
Check the bit shank first
Compare the bit's shank with the chuck's stated capacity and clamping instructions. A 1/2-in chuck can accept shanks up to that nominal maximum; the DEWALT DCD794B is described by its maker as having a 1/2-in ratcheting chuck. The maker's manual identifies a keyless chuck and explains how to seat and tighten an accessory. Remove the battery before changing accessories and follow the actual model instructions.
Then check the hole and material
The maximum hole diameter is a separate performance limit. It can vary by material and bit type; a manufacturer may list separate capacities for twist, auger, paddle or hole-saw bits. Do not substitute chuck opening, UWO, top speed or a specification from a nearby drill for a missing material-specific capacity. If a value is not documented for the exact SKU, record it as unknown.
Consider bit length and geometry
A long bit extends the working distance and can make alignment more demanding. DEWALT's DCD794/DCD799 manual says to begin long-bit drilling at low speed with the bit tip in contact, stay within the bit's speed rating, and apply pressure in line with the bit without overloading. The manual also warns that a tool can twist suddenly if it stalls. Read the exact instructions and use eye protection and workholding appropriate to the task.
Why the 1/2-in question still helps
Chuck capacity is useful when your planned bits have known shank sizes, particularly if you already own them. It is not a shortcut for deciding hole size, speed or safe load. For the DCD794B, the published source set confirms a 1/2-in chuck but does not establish a model-specific maximum hole capacity by material. The DCD794B assessment keeps those facts separate, and the finder uses the half-inch answer only as a chuck-opening requirement.
Cycle 111 verified answer: The inclusive 0.5-in chuck choice returns 113 current-reference configurations. GSR18V-975CB25 qualifies through the exact GSR body's 1/2-in keyless chuck; Bosch lists a 7.6-in product length but gives no tool-head length, so it does not establish the strict six-inch-head condition. Read the CB25 assessment or use the same chuck finder choice.
Cycle 110 verified answer: The inclusive 0.5-in chuck choice returns 112 current-reference configurations; GSR18V-400B12 qualifies at exactly 0.5 in and does not meet a strict ≤6-in head limit. The B22 source conflict remains reference-only. Read the B12 assessment or use the same chuck finder choice.
Cycle 110 battery/chuck interaction: Requiring an included battery and a half-inch chuck gives 68 current-reference results with earlier=no; enabling earlier packages gives 71 total (68 current and three earlier). B12 qualifies with one listed BAT612 pack and the exact 1/2-in chuck. The tool-only plus half-inch-chuck branch returns 44 matches and excludes B12 because its package includes a battery. Do not count the reference-only B22 package. Read B12’s package review or use the same-condition current-only, earlier-enabled and tool-only finder links.
Half-inch chuck answer: The inclusive 0.5-in chuck choice now returns 111 current-reference configurations. All five Cycle 107 packages qualify through their included GSB drill’s manufacturer-documented 1/2-in chuck; this is the bit-shank interface, not a hole-size guarantee. Read the exact-model assessments: GXL18V-233B25 GXL18V-227B25 GXL18V-260B26 GXL18V-497B23 GXL18V-240B22. Use the same finder choice.
Cycle 106 boundary answer: The at-least-0.5-in chuck option returns 106 current-reference configurations; GXL12V-310B22 is not one because its PS31 drill has a documented 3/8-in (0.375-in) chuck. The PS60 saw is a separate tool and does not alter the drill's bit-shank interface. Read the exact model assessment or apply the same inclusive chuck filter.
Cycle 105 boundary answer: The at-least-0.5-in chuck option still returns 106 current-reference configurations; CLPK241-120 does not qualify because its PS130 has a documented 3/8-in chuck, while its separate PS41 has a 1/4-in impact-driver holder rather than a drill chuck. Read the CLPK241-120 assessment as a negative fit example or apply the same inclusive chuck filter.
Cycle 102 checked result: The at-least-0.5-in chuck choice returns 106 current-reference configurations; GXL18V-496B22 qualifies through the DDS181A 1/2-in bit-shank chuck, not as a hole-size or hammer-drilling claim. Apply the same inclusive chuck filter.
If a 1/2-in chuck opening is essential
Cycle 98 checked result: The at-least-0.5-in chuck choice returns 104 current-reference configurations; XFD131 qualifies through XFD13Z's documented 1/2-in bit-shank chuck, not as a hole-size promise. Read the XFD131 limits and package review and apply the same inclusive chuck filter.
Cycle 97 checked result: The at-least-0.5-in chuck choice returns 103 current-reference configurations; XT281S qualifies through the XFD13Z's documented 1/2-in chuck, a bit-shank limit rather than a hole-size promise. Read its drill and package assessment; apply the same inclusive chuck filter.
Cycle 95 checked result: The at-least-0.5-in chuck choice returns 101 current-reference configurations; XT288T qualifies through the XPH14Z drill's maker-documented 0.5-in bit-shank capacity, not through its separate impact driver. See the XT288T assessment and use the same inclusive chuck filter.
Cycle 96 checked result: The at-least-0.5-in chuck choice returns 102 current-reference configurations; CT225SYX qualifies through the XFD10Z drill’s documented 1/2-in chuck, not its separate impact driver. This is bit-shank capacity, not a hole-size promise; see the CT225SYX assessment or use the same inclusive chuck filter.
Cycle 94 checked result: The at-least-0.5-in chuck option returns 100 current-reference configurations, including CX205RB/XPH15ZB and CX203SYB/XFD15ZB at the inclusive 0.5-in bit-shank boundary; their chuck opening is not a hole-size claim. Both exact drill manuals document 1/2-in chucks, but CX205RB's XPH15ZB has hammer mode and CX203SYB's XFD15ZB does not. Use the same inclusive chuck filter.
Updated matcher result (2026-11-01): The at-least-0.5-in chuck option returns 98 configurations. XT296SMR and XT296ST qualify through their XPH16Z drill's documented 1/2-in chuck, not through the separate XDT14Z impact driver. The inclusive 0.5-in boundary is bit-shank capacity, not a hole-size promise; the older tally below is superseded. Read XT296SMR, XT296ST and XT297T; apply the same chuck choice in the finder.
Decision: This question requires a documented chuck capacity of at least 0.5 in; the current finder returns 92 configurations, uses an inclusive 0.5-in shank-capacity boundary, and does not certify a 1/2-in hole capacity. The five Makita XGT combo packages GT200D, GT400M1D1, GT401M1D1, GT500M and GT501M qualify through the named GPH01Z drill's manual-documented 1/2-in chuck. The keyed-chuck XAD03PT and XAD03Z also meet this boundary; XAD04PT/Z use a 7/16-in hex sleeve and do not.
The Cycle 80 Makita XAD01 kit and XAD01Z tool-only package both have a documented 3/8-in keyed chuck, below the inclusive 0.5-in shank-fit threshold. Their separate 3/8-in steel-drilling capacity does not enlarge the chuck opening. The LXT XPT02Z is another clear negative: its exact page specifies a 1/4-in hex holder (0.25 in), which cannot accept a conventional 1/2-in drill-bit shank even though its manual documents a hammer-drill mode and a separate 5/16-in concrete capacity.
Four newly assessed package configurations meet the same chuck boundary through their named drill components: XT299T (XPH16Z), XT616T and XT617T (both XPH14Z), and XGT GT202SU1D1 (GPH03Z). Their impact drivers are separate tools; the drill-component chuck facts do not become a material-hole rating for the combo.
All four Makita 17-series packages document the inclusive half-inch chuck size: XFD17S1 and XFD17Z are plain driver-drills, while XPH17S1 and XPH17Z are hammer-driver-drills. The 1/2-in value is bit-shank capacity, not a material-specific hole-size promise. Show all half-inch-chuck matches in the finder.
The two newly assessed GSB 755 packages also meet the inclusive boundary: tool-only GSB18V-755CN and battery-included GSB18V-755CB25 share a hammer-drill body with a 1/2-in keyless chuck. The CN list excludes battery and charger; CB25 lists two CORE18V 4.0Ah batteries, an 18V charger, auxiliary handle and bag. Bosch's 5/8-in masonry maximum is a material limit, separate from chuck opening; its 7.6-in overall length does not establish a head length.
The Bosch PS130-2A kit and PS130N bare tool are useful negative examples: each exact package uses the PS130 body's 3/8-in chuck, or 0.375 in, below the inclusive 0.5-in bit-shank boundary. The manual's separate 3/8-in masonry maximum is a material-capacity statement, not evidence of a 1/2-in chuck or a 1/2-in hole rating.
The brushless DCD793B and battery-included DCD793D1 both document a 1/2-in ratcheting chuck; they share the DCD793 drill, but differ in package contents and neither has hammer mode. The DCD794B and DCD800B are other 1/2-in drill/driver examples, while the DCD446B and DCD470B are keyed 1/2-in stud-and-joist drills in different 20V and 60V families. The DCD471B and DCD471X1 instead have a 7/16-in hex-only quick-change interface, below the 0.5-in requirement. Compare the bit shank and exact chuck instructions: 0.5 in concerns chuck fit, not a 1/2-in hole size in wood, metal or masonry.
Makita's GFD03Z, GFD03SU1, GPH03Z and GPH03SU1 also meet the maker-documented 0.5-in chuck rule. Their GFD03 and GPH03 families differ in hammer mode, and the Z/SU1 suffixes differ in package contents; check those exact assessments before treating a chuck match as a complete task match.
The Bosch GSR18V-755CB25 is another documented half-inch-chuck example, but it is an included-battery 18V drill/driver kit rather than a tool-only package. Its linked manual lists separate 1/2-in mild-metal and 3-1/4-in wood drilling limits; neither value should be inferred from chuck size, and the model has no documented hammer-drilling mode.
Two separate Bosch right-angle configurations also meet the shank-fit test for different reasons: battery-included GSR18V-535FCB15 is a FlexiClick kit whose included 1/2-in metal chuck attaches to a core tool otherwise driven through a 1/4-in hex interface; tool-only GRD18V-127N has a conventional keyed 1/2-in chuck. The GSR package lists a 4Ah battery and charger but no model numbers; the GRD package excludes battery, charger and case. These 0.5-in chuck facts establish shank fit only, not material capacity.
The Bosch 18V GSR18V-535CN, GSR18V-975CN and PROFACTOR GSR18V-1330CN are three exact tool-only GSR packages with documented 1/2-in keyless chucks; each exact Includes line lists the drill and belt clip, not a battery or charger, and none documents hammer mode. Their linked GSR manual rows separately list maximum capacities: 535CN is 2 in wood and 1/2 in mild metal; 975CN is 3-1/4 in wood and 1/2 in mild metal; 1330CN is 5-7/8 in wood and 5/8 in mild metal. These are manufacturer capacities for named materials, not conclusions from chuck opening or independent test results. The image/manual show an auxiliary handle for 1330CN but its written package list omits it; verify the exact contents.
\nThe distinct Bosch 18V hammer-drill GSB18V-535CN, GSB18V-975CN and PROFACTOR GSB18V-1330CN also each document a 1/2-in chuck, but unlike their GSR-numbered siblings they have hammer mode. Their linked GSB manual rows separately list 1/2-in, 5/8-in and 3/4-in masonry maximums respectively; the 1330CN is listed at 4.6 lb, the 535CN at 2.7 lb, and the 975CN page conflicts between 3.4 and 3.5 lb. These are maker specifications, not performance comparisons; all three CN packages exclude battery and charger, and the pictured/manual-required 975/1330 handles are not named in the written Includes lines.
The GSB hammer-drill siblings also have documented 1/2-in chucks, but are distinct configurations: GSB18V-535CN, GSB18V-975CN and GSB18V-1330CN each qualify for bit-shank fit and document hammer mode. Their GSB manuals separately give 1/2-, 5/8- and 3/4-in masonry maxima; all three are tool-only, their manual limits are not independent tests, and the photographed/manual-required handles on 975/1330 are not listed in the written CN packages.
Three newly assessed Bosch configurations meet this same chuck boundary: HDH181BL is an older hammer-drill body in a tool-only L-BOXX package, while the current-reference GSB18V-975CB25 and GSB18V-490B12 are distinct battery-included hammer-drill kits. Each exact page lists a 1/2-in chuck. The 975 CB25 includes two named 4Ah CORE18V packs but its Includes list omits the pictured bag and side handle; 490B12 lists one 2Ah Standard Power pack but does not identify its battery model. Their manuals give separate material capacities, so a 1/2-in chuck is only a shank-fit boundary, not a hole-size promise. Apply the same inclusive chuck filter in the finder.
The current XGT half-inch set includes hammer-driver-drills GPH02D/GPH02Z, keyed-chuck right-angle GAD01M1/GAD01Z, plus current GFD01D and GPH01Z. GAD01M1 is a one-BL4040 kit while GAD01Z is tool-only. The separate GAD02M1 and GAD02Z are excluded: their 7/16-in hex holders are 0.4375 in, below the 0.5-in chuck threshold, even though the GAD02 manual separately reports 1/2-in steel drilling capacity. With earlier=yes, GFD01Z, GFD02D/GFD02Z and GPH01D add four more XGT configurations at exactly 0.5 in. The questionnaire asks for chuck opening, not hole size.
The Bosch GSR12V-300FCB22 is a useful negative fit example: its included keyless drill-chuck attachment accepts shanks up to 3/8 in, while its base drive is a separate 1/4-in hex interface. The kit PS31-2A and bare-tool PS31N each document a 3/8-in (0.375-in) chuck, below the 0.5-in boundary. The kit PS21-2A and bare-tool PS21N each use a 1/4-in quick-change hex holder (0.25 in), not a three-jaw chuck, and are also below the minimum bit-shank opening. These different interface sizes do not predict hole size.
Cycle 99 checked result: The at-least-0.5-in chuck choice returns 105 current-reference configurations; XT505 qualifies via XPH10Z's 1/2-in bit-shank chuck, not as a hole-size promise. See the XT505 drill and kit assessment; apply the same chuck threshold in the finder.
Cycle 117 platform/interface answer: The Bosch 12V Max plus inclusive ≥0.5-in drill-chuck result remains empty among 22 reviewed configurations. The 17 documented 3/8-in openings and five 1/4-in hex-holder configurations all fall below the chuck boundary; the HX HXB22 kit and HXN bare tool are among the five hex-drive negatives, despite their manual-supported drilling and 5.0-in head. Use the same platform-plus-chuck conditions; this assessed-library result is not an absence claim for every Bosch product.
Cycle 108 platform/chuck answer: Bosch 12V Max plus an inclusive 1/2-in chuck requirement returns no match among 20 reviewed configurations. GXL12V-220B22 is a known negative: its included GSR12V-300 has a 3/8-in (0.375-in) chuck, below the 0.5-in shank boundary. Read the package and chuck assessment or apply both same-condition filters.
Cycle 106 Bosch platform/interface interaction: Bosch 12V Max plus the inclusive 1/2-in chuck condition still has no match in this reviewed Bosch 12V set. GXL12V-310B22's PS31 has a 3/8-in (0.375-in) drill chuck, below the 0.5-in bit-shank threshold; the separate saw's blade holder does not count as a drill chuck. Read the PS31 interface evidence or apply both conditions in the finder.
Cycle 105 interaction answer: Bosch 12V Max plus the inclusive 1/2-in chuck requirement returns no match among 18 reviewed current-reference configurations; CLPK241-120 is a known negative because its PS130 has a 3/8-in chuck and its separate PS41 has a 1/4-in impact-driver holder, not a drill chuck. This library result does not establish absence outside the reviewed models. Read the package's chuck and role limitations or check both conditions in the finder.
Bosch 12V Max and a required 1/2-in chuck
Decision: The Bosch 12V Max and at-least-1/2-in chuck requirements return no match among the 22 assessed Bosch 12V Max configurations. Seventeen have documented 3/8-in drill-chuck openings; the five configurations using 1/4-in hex holders are CLPK27-120, PS21-2A, PS21N, HXB22 and HXN. A 1/4-in hex interface is not a 1/2-in drill chuck.
The PS11-102, PS11BN and PS11N use the PS11's 3/8-in right-angle drill chuck. The PS31N bare tool and PS31-2A kit, the GSR12V-300N/GSR12V-300B22 pair, the distinct GSB12V-300N/GSB12V-300B22 pair, and PS130N/PS130-2A each have a documented 3/8-in chuck. The included GSR12V-300 in GXL12V-220B22 and the drill in GXL12V-310B22 also have 3/8-in chucks. The GSR12V-140FCB22 and GSR12V-300FCB22 FlexiClick packages include 3/8-in drill-chuck attachments; each separate 1/4-in hex drive accepts hex bits and is not a 1/2-in chuck. CLPK27-120, the PS21-2A kit and bare-tool PS21N each use a 0.25-in hex holder rather than a drill chuck. These seventeen 3/8-in openings and three 1/4-in hex holders all fall below the inclusive 0.5-in shank boundary. That opening is for bit-shank fit, not a hole-size claim.
No-match explanation: No Bosch 12V Max candidate in this assessed library has a documented drill-chuck capacity of at least 0.5 in; the empty result includes seventeen 3/8-in openings and five distinct 1/4-in hex-holder configurations, including the HX kit and bare tool. This is not proof that no Bosch 12V Max product outside this assessed set can meet the condition.
Makita XGT and the inclusive 1/2-in chuck boundary
Decision: Requiring XGT and a documented chuck of at least 0.5 in returns sixteen current-reference configurations; earlier=yes adds four reviewed XGT packages for twenty, while the GAD02’s 7/16-in hex holder stays below the boundary. The GT combo kits qualify through their named GPH drill component, not a separate impact driver.
Current-scope decision: With earlier=no, XGT plus a documented chuck capacity of at least 0.5 in returns 16 current-reference configurations. They span plain driver-drills, hammer-driver-drills, keyed right-angle drills and combo packages, including GFD01D, GPH01Z, keyed GAD01M1, GAD01Z and the GT combo kits GT202SU1D1, GT200D, GT400M1D1, GT401M1D1, GT500M and GT501M. Their named GPH drill components have the half-inch chuck; the separate GDT items are impact drivers.
Earlier-scope decision: With earlier=yes, the same XGT and chuck condition returns 20 configurations: the 16 current-reference models plus GFD01Z, GFD02D, GFD02Z and GPH01D; each added configuration documents a 1/2-in chuck.
GFD01D and GPH01Z each meet the 0.5-in lower limit; with earlier packages enabled, GFD01Z, GFD02D, GFD02Z and GPH01D also meet it. The GAD02 is the useful counterexample: its manual’s steel capacity is a hole/material figure, while the tool uses a 7/16-in hex bit holder and does not have a conventional 1/2-in chuck. The chooser asks for bit-shank interface and does not infer chuck capacity from a drilling-capacity number.
Find current XGT models with a 1/2-in chuck; include earlier XGT packages with the same chuck condition.
Makita's LXT results now comprise twelve machine families and twenty package SKUs. The brushed XFD10SY kit and XFD10Z tool-only sibling both document a 1/2-in keyless chuck, but are plain driver-drills without hammer mode. XFD10SY lists two compact 1.5Ah batteries, DC18SD charger and a bag; the page does not name the included pack models, and its contents do not transfer to XFD10Z. The shared XFD10 has a stated 7-1/4-in overall length, not a head-length measure. The compact brushless XFD12R, XFD12T and tool-only XFD12Z also document a 1/2-in chuck and pass the bit-shank threshold. R and T are distinct two-battery kits (two BL1820B 2.0Ah packs versus two BL1850B 5.0Ah packs); Z excludes battery and charger. Their exact page/flyer carrier wording differs, and the Z page's 1-in wood-capacity figure conflicts with the linked manual's 1-1/2 in, so neither chuck fit nor package identity resolves hole capacity. The plain-driver-drill XFD15ZB tool-only package and XFD15SY1B 1.5Ah kit also have the documented 1/2-in keyless chuck; the kit page names a DC18SD charger but leaves the included battery model unspecified. The new plain-driver-drill XFD16T kit and XFD16Z tool-only sibling also document a 1/2-in chuck; T lists two BL1850B 5.0Ah packs and DC18RC, while Z excludes battery and charger. Both are rotation-only drill/driver models without hammer mode. Their 6-7/8-in number is overall length, not a stated head length, and the XFD16 manual gives different wood limits by bit type. The brushed hammer-driver-drill XPH10Z tool-only SKU and XPH10R kit both document the same chuck; R lists two BL1820B packs and DC18RC charger. The separate XPH14Z/XPH14T brushless hammer-driver-drill pair also qualifies, with different package contents. The separate brushed XPH03Z hammer-drill tool-only SKU also documents a 13-mm (1/2-in) keyless chuck; its exact Z package excludes battery and charger, and the discontinued XPH03M kit is not the same package. The newly reviewed compact brushless hammer-driver-drill XPH12Z also has a 1/2-in chuck; its manual separately lists 1/2-in masonry, 1/2-in steel and 1-1/2-in wood capacities. The 7-1/8-in published figure is overall length, not head length. The sub-compact brushless hammer-drill XPH15ZB has the same 1/2-in chuck threshold in its tool-only package; it excludes battery and charger. The newer compact brushless hammer-drill XPH16Z tool-only SKU and XPH16T kit also meet the same half-inch shank threshold; Z excludes battery and charger, while T lists two BL1850B 5.0Ah packs, DC18RC charger and a tool bag but not the manual's optional side grip. All twenty clear the shank-fit question; that is not an assertion that they can drill a half-inch hole in every material. XFD10's 7-1/4-in, XFD12's 6-3/4 in, XFD15's 5-7/8 in, XFD16's 6-7/8 in, XFD03's 8-7/8-in, XPH03's 8-7/8-in, XPH10's 7-3/4-in, XPH12's 7-1/8-in, XPH14's 7-in, XPH15's 6-1/2-in and XPH16's 6-7/8-in figures are overall lengths, not stated tool-head lengths for the separate six-inch question.
The brushed XFD03Z adds the twelfth LXT family and a twentieth package to the 0.5-in-or-larger chuck results. The exact tool-only page and family manual identify a 13-mm keyless chuck, so it is exactly on the inclusive boundary; the manual documents drilling and screwdriving, not hammer mode. The page lists 8-7/8 in overall length and does not give a tool-head dimension. The discontinued XFD03 kit's battery/charger contents do not transfer to Z.
The brushless XFD14Z also clears the 1/2-in bit-shank rule. It is an ordinary driver-drill with no documented hammer mode, and its exact tool-only package excludes battery and charger. The manual's 2-in auger, 3-in self-feed and 6-in hole-saw figures are bit-specific; the product page's 7-in dimension is overall length, not a tool-head measurement.
The compact brushless LXT XPH12Z adds another exact half-inch chuck match. Its 1/2-in chuck concerns shank fit; Makita separately lists 1/2-in masonry, 1/2-in steel and 1-1/2-in wood capacities. The 7-1/8-in overall-length figure is not a tool-head length.
The current-reference XAD05Z is another 1/2-in keyed-chuck match; its exact page lists a chuck key and holder but excludes the battery and charger. By contrast, XAD06Z uses a 7/16-in hex holder, not a 1/2-in chuck, so it fails this shank-fit question despite being a right-angle drill. The separate discontinued XAD05T kit would match only if earlier packages are enabled; XAD06T remains below the chuck boundary.
Makita LXT and a 1/2-in chuck
Cycle 98 checked result: Makita LXT plus a documented 1/2-in-or-larger chuck returns 42 current-reference configurations. XFD131 joins through XFD13Z's 1/2-in chuck; that is the bit-shank opening, not a material hole-size rating. Read the exact XFD131 fit and package assessment or apply the same current-only conditions.
Cycle 98 earlier-scope check: With earlier=yes, the same LXT and half-inch-chuck choices return 43 configurations: 42 current-reference matches plus earlier XAD05T. XFD131 remains current-reference. Check its documented chuck interface and keep all three conditions in the finder.
Cycle 97 checked result: Combining Makita 18V LXT with a documented 0.5-in-or-larger chuck returns 41 current-reference configurations; XT281S joins through XFD13Z, and the boundary remains bit-shank fit rather than hole size. Read the XT281S assessment and use the same LXT and chuck conditions.
Cycle 97 with earlier packages: With earlier=yes, Makita LXT and a 1/2-in chuck return 42 configurations: 41 current-reference matches plus earlier XAD05T; XT281S remains current-reference through XFD13Z. Check the XT281S drill interface and carry the same expanded choices to the finder.
Cycle 95 checked result: Combining Makita 18V LXT with a documented 0.5-in-or-larger chuck returns 39 current-reference configurations; XT288T qualifies through XPH14Z, and the boundary remains bit-shank fit rather than hole size. See the XT288T assessment and use the same LXT and chuck conditions.
Cycle 95 checked result: With earlier=yes, Makita LXT and a 1/2-in chuck return 40 configurations: 39 current-reference matches plus earlier XAD05T; XT288T qualifies through XPH14Z and remains current-reference. Read the XT288T review and keep all three choices in the finder.
Cycle 94 checked result: Combining Makita 18V LXT with a documented chuck capacity of at least 0.5 in returns 38 current-reference configurations; CX205RB/XPH15ZB and CX203SYB/XFD15ZB meet the inclusive chuck threshold, but it is bit-shank capacity rather than a hole-size rating. With earlier=yes, the same LXT and half-inch-chuck condition returns 39 configurations: 38 current-reference matches plus earlier XAD05T; the CX pair remains current-reference. Read CX205RB and CX203SYB; apply LXT plus chuck or include earlier packages as well.
Updated matcher result (2026-11-01): Combining Makita 18V LXT with a documented chuck capacity of at least 0.5 in returns 36 current-reference configurations. XT296SMR and XT296ST qualify through XPH16Z's drill chuck, while XDT14Z is a separate impact driver. The older tally below is superseded. Read XT296SMR, XT296ST and XT297T; apply both conditions in the finder.
Earlier-scope correction (2026-11-01): With earlier=yes, the same LXT and half-inch-chuck condition returns 37 configurations: 36 current-reference matches plus earlier XAD05T. XT296SMR and XT296ST remain current kits with XPH16Z's 1/2-in chuck. The older tally below is superseded. Read XT296SMR, XT296ST and XT297T; apply all three choices in the finder.
Decision: Combining Makita 18V LXT with a documented chuck capacity of at least 0.5 in returns 30 current-reference configurations. Keyed-chuck XAD03PT, XAD03Z and XAD05Z qualify; XAD03PT/Z share the XAD03 manual's 1/2-in keyed chuck but differ in kit contents. The new XAD04PT and discontinued XAD04Z do not qualify because their manual specifies a 7/16-in hex sleeve, below 0.5 in. The three combo packages XT299T, XT616T and XT617T meet the same rule through XPH16Z or XPH14Z, and the XFD17S1/XFD17Z plain driver-drills and XPH17S1/XPH17Z hammer-driver-drills also qualify. Hex-holder XAD06Z likewise fails. These join XFD03Z, XFD10SY/Z, XFD12R/T/Z, XFD14Z, XFD15SY1B/ZB, XFD16T/Z, XPH03Z, XPH10R/Z, XPH12Z, XPH14T/Z, XPH15ZB and XPH16T/Z. All pass a bit-shank threshold, not a hole-capacity test.
The brushed XFD10SY kit and XFD10Z bare tool share the 1/2-in chuck and plain two-speed driver-drill modes. SY's exact page lists two compact packs, DC18SD and a bag, but not the battery model numbers; Z explicitly excludes battery and charger. Both lack documented hammer mode, and their 7-1/4-in overall length is not a short-head measurement. Compare the separate package and mode reviews rather than transferring the kit's contents.
The compact brushless XFD12 pair includes battery-kit XFD12R with two BL1820B 2.0Ah packs and XFD12T with two BL1850B 5.0Ah packs, both listing a DC18RC, while XFD12Z is tool-only. They share the 1/2-in chuck and plain driver-drill modes, not hammer action; the catalog's combined 2.5Ah notation, wood-capacity sources and bag/case wording remain discrepant. The distinct brushless XFD14Z is also tool-only and has a 1/2-in chuck, but its 7-in overall length is not the head measurement requested by the separate clearance question. The XFD15 pair is another plain driver-drill: XFD15ZB excludes battery and charger, while XFD15SY1B lists one compact 1.5Ah battery and DC18SD without naming the pack model. The brushed XPH10 pair adds documented hammer mode: XPH10Z is tool-only, while XPH10R lists two BL1820B 2.0Ah batteries, DC18RC charger and case. The distinct brushless XPH14Z lists a grip handle and excludes battery/charger; XPH14T lists two BL1850B packs, DC18RC and bag. Tool-only brushless hammer-drill XPH15ZB also meets the 0.5-in chuck threshold at its exact boundary; the listed 1/2-in masonry capacity is not the chuck requirement, and overall length is not a head dimension. The compact brushless XPH16Z is tool-only and XPH16T lists two BL1850B packs, DC18RC and a tool bag; its package list does not name the manual's optional side grip. That chuck opening is not a workpiece-hole rating; use each manual's bit/material capacities and verify the exact retail suffix.
The separate brushed XPH03Z tool-only hammer-drill also passes this combination: its exact Z page states a 13-mm keyless chuck and excludes the battery and charger. Its 8-7/8-in dimension is overall length, not a six-inch head measurement; the discontinued XPH03M kit is a separate suffix. The 0.5-in chuck boundary is inclusive, but it only screens shank fit.
The XFD16T and XFD16Z add two more LXT plain-driver package entries to this combined result: each has a 1/2-in chuck, but neither documents hammer mode. The XFD16T page lists two 5.0Ah packs and charger; XFD16Z is tool-only. Its 6-7/8-in figure is overall length, not evidence of a short head.
The XPH12Z is a separate compact brushless hammer-drill in this LXT/chuck result; its exact tool-only package excludes battery and charger. Its stated 7-1/8-in measurement is overall length, not evidence for the separate six-inch head question. The brushed XFD03Z also qualifies at the inclusive 13-mm (0.5-in) chuck boundary; Makita gives 8-7/8 in overall length but no head-length value, and the manual documents no hammer mode.
The four 17-series packages also meet the LXT-plus-half-inch-chuck condition: plain-driver XFD17S1 and XFD17Z, and hammer-driver XPH17S1 and XPH17Z. The 0.5-in figure is chuck shank capacity, not a hole-size rating. Apply the same platform and chuck choices in the finder.
Earlier-scope result: With earlier=yes, combining Makita LXT with a documented chuck capacity of at least 0.5 in returns 31 configurations: the 30 current-reference matches plus earlier keyed-chuck XAD05T; XAD06T and discontinued XAD04Z stay below the threshold because their holders are 7/16-in hex. Apply the same earlier, platform and chuck choices in the finder.
Show Makita LXT models with a 1/2-in-or-larger chuck in the finder.
Cycle 99 interaction update: Combining Makita 18V LXT with a documented half-inch-or-larger chuck returns 43 current-reference configurations; XT505 joins through XPH10Z's 1/2-in chuck, which fits bit shanks rather than measuring hole capacity. Read the XT505 component review; apply the same two conditions in the finder.
Cycle 99 earlier-scope update: With earlier=yes, the Makita LXT/half-inch-chuck result is 44 configurations: 43 current-reference plus earlier XAD05T; XT505 remains current-reference and is counted through the XPH10Z drill. Check the exact kit review; keep all three conditions in the finder.
12V MAX plus a 1/2-in chuck requirement
Decision: No DEWALT 12V MAX configuration in this reviewed set also has a documented 1/2-in chuck, so the combined finder result is empty rather than relaxing either requirement.
The assessed 12V drill configurations document smaller chuck capacities; an empty result here means this library has no supported match for the two selected constraints. It is not proof that no 12V product exists outside this research scope. If the bit shank is fixed, do not treat a smaller chuck as compatible; verify the exact accessory and consider whether the platform choice can change.
Requiring an inclusive 0.5-in chuck and a maker-stated tool head of 6 in or less returns four current-reference configurations: DEWALT DCD794B/D1 at 5.88 in and Bosch GSR18V-52B12/B22 at 5.7 in; CB14’s 8-in overall length is not a qualifying head. Compare the DCD794B, DCD794D1, GSR18V-52B12, and GSR18V-52B22, or apply the same two fit choices. The CB14’s overall length and the 5.7-in head claim are different fields; short-head length is not installed clearance.
Cycle 112 chuck/head interaction: Requiring both an inclusive 0.5-in chuck and a maker-stated tool head of 6 in or less leaves the two DCD794 package SKUs. GSR18V-1330CB14 meets the chuck threshold but is excluded because its 8-in value is product length and its separate head measurement is unknown; the CB25 page likewise gives no head measurement. Its manual's 5/8-in mild-metal maximum is a separate material limit, not chuck capacity or head clearance. Read the CB14 measurement notes or apply both exact fit conditions.
Cycle 111 chuck/head boundary: GSR18V-975CB25 meets the inclusive half-inch chuck condition but is excluded when a six-inch-or-less manufacturer-stated head is also essential: its 7.6-in figure is product length, and the exact page gives no separate head measurement. Read the CB25 assessment or apply both same-condition filters.
Cycle 108 chuck/head interaction: The GXL12V-220B22 kit's GSR drill reaches the inclusive 6.0-in head boundary but its 3/8-in (0.375-in) chuck fails the ≥0.5-in condition, so it is not among the two DCD794 SKUs returned for both requirements. Read the exact package assessment or apply both numeric conditions in the finder.
Cycle 107 interaction check: The five Cycle 107 GXL kits meet the 1/2-in chuck condition but do not pass the documented ≤6-in head boundary because the exact kit pages state no drill-head length. GXL18V-233B25 GXL18V-227B25 GXL18V-260B26 GXL18V-497B23 GXL18V-240B22 Use this same-condition finder.
Cycle 106 numeric interaction: GXL12V-310B22 cannot be established as a match when both a ≥0.5-in chuck and a maker-stated head ≤6 in are required: the PS31's 0.375-in drill chuck is below the inclusive chuck boundary and its head length is unstated. Read the exact interface and dimension notes or apply both numeric conditions in the finder.
Pairing a 1/2-in chuck with a short tool head
Decision: Requiring both a 1/2-in chuck and a manufacturer-stated tool head of 6 in or less leaves the two DCD794 package SKUs; each has a documented 0.5-in chuck and 5.88-in head. Bosch PS21-2A and PS21N each have a qualifying 5.6-in stated head but fail the chuck condition with their 1/4-in hex holders; PS130N and PS130-2A miss both boundaries with a 3/8-in chuck and 8.0-in head. XFD10's 7-1/4-in overall length, like XFD14Z's 7-in overall length, is not a head measurement.
The DCD794B is the tool-only package and the DCD794D1 is a kit; their listed head and chuck measurements are the same because the core machine is the same, but their battery/charger contents are not. The DCD793B and DCD793D1 also document a 0.5-in chuck, but their 6.38-in tool-head claim exceeds this second threshold, so neither passes the combined screen. The 5.88-in DCD794 figure is below 6 in, not a full operating-clearance measurement: add the bit, hand, battery and room to align the drill safely.
The Bosch PS21-2A kit and PS21N bare tool both pass the ≤6-in head boundary at a maker-stated 5.6 in but miss the 0.5-in chuck requirement: each uses a 1/4-in (0.25-in) quick-change hex holder for hex bits, not ordinary round shanks in a three-jaw chuck. The PS31-2A is a different documented miss at both boundaries: its 3/8-in (0.375-in) chuck is below 0.5 in and its 7-in head is 1 in beyond the ≤6-in limit.
The three Bosch GSB CN hammer drills are not established ≤6-in-head matches: Bosch states overall lengths of 7.25 in for GSB18V-535CN, 8 in for GSB18V-1330CN and 7.6 in for GSB18V-975CN, and none of those figures is a separate tool-head measure. Their exact head clearance remains unknown, so the finder does not mark them compatible with this ≤6-in condition.
The Makita XFD10SY and XFD10Z also document a 1/2-in chuck but give 7-1/4 in as overall length, not the head; the kit and tool-only packages do not satisfy the unknown-dimension rule. The brushed tool-only XFD03Z is another exact-boundary 13-mm chuck example, but its 8-7/8-in overall length is not a head measure and its head field is unknown. XFD15, XPH10, XPH14 and XPH15ZB likewise list 5-7/8-in, 7-3/4-in, 7-in and 6-1/2-in overall figures. The XPH03Z page likewise gives 8-7/8 in as overall length and no supported tool-head measurement. No XFD03, XFD10, XFD15, XPH03, XPH10, XPH14 or XPH15 page/manual supplies the requested tool-head measurement; unknown head length cannot satisfy the second rule.
The XAD05 right-angle pair is another useful separation between chuck and clearance: tool-only XAD05Z documents a keyed 1/2-in chuck, but its 17-1/8-in overall length does not give a six-inch-or-less head length. Its earlier XAD05T shares the chuck interface but is a separate battery-included package. The hex-holder XAD06Z and earlier XAD06T fail the chuck condition at the 7/16-in interface and also have no documented head length. Unknown is not an automatic pass; allow clearance for the actual drill, bit, battery, hands and approach.
Open the finder with both fit requirements.
Cycle 99 interaction update: XT505 has a 1/2-in chuck but does not join the strict six-inch-head set: the XPH10 manual's 7-3/4-in figure is overall length and no separate head measurement is stated. Read the XT505 clearance limitation; keep both chuck and head limits in the finder.
FLEXVOLT 60V MAX with a 1/2-in chuck
Decision: Requiring both DEWALT FLEXVOLT 60V MAX and a documented chuck capacity of at least 0.5 in returns the two DCD470 package SKUs, each with a keyed 1/2-in chuck.
The DCD470B is tool-only; the DCD470X1 kit adds a DCB609 battery, DCB118 charger and contractor bag around the same drill. The DCD471B and DCD471X1 are excluded because their manuals specify 7/16-in hex accessories only (0.4375 in, below the 0.5-in rule); neither package has a 1/2-in chuck. The DCD470 keyed chucks meet this bit-shank-fit threshold, but that is not a promise of a 1/2-in hole through any material; use the manual's accessory- and material-specific limits.
20V MAX plus a 1/2-in chuck
Decision: Combining DEWALT 20V MAX with a documented chuck capacity of at least 0.5 in returns 30 configurations in this set; model and package differences remain important.
Both the DCD793B tool-only package and DCD793D1 kit meet the chuck rule on the same DCD793 machine, but only D1 includes the named DCB203 battery and DCB107 charger. The DCD447B and DCD447WW1 have a 7/16-in hex-only interface, which is 0.4375 in and below the required 0.5-in capacity; DCD740B is a 3/8-in right-angle configuration and also falls short. The filter is about the bit-shank opening, not the hole diameter the drill can safely bore.
Show 20V MAX models with a 1/2-in-or-larger chuck in the finder.
Cycle 111 current/chuck interaction: With earlier=no, an included battery required and a half-inch chuck required, 69 current-reference configurations match. GSR18V-975CB25 qualifies because its exact GSR drill has the documented 1/2-in bit-shank opening; the product page gives no separate tool-head length. Read the CB25 review or apply these same three finder choices.
Cycle 107 interaction check: With earlier=no, all five Cycle 107 kits match included battery plus a 1/2-in drill chuck and remain in current-reference scope. GXL18V-233B25 GXL18V-227B25 GXL18V-260B26 GXL18V-497B23 GXL18V-240B22 Use this same-condition finder.
Cycle 102 interaction check: With earlier=no, a battery-included package plus a half-inch chuck returns 62 current-reference configurations; GXL18V-496B22 qualifies through the DDS181A chuck, not as a hole-size claim. Use the same current-reference, battery and chuck conditions.
Half-inch bit-shank capacity with earlier packages off
Cycle 97 checked result: With earlier=no, a battery-included package and at least a 1/2-in chuck returns 59 current-reference configurations, including XT281S through its XFD13Z drill and two listed packs. Check its exact package details and apply all three exact filters.
Cycle 95 checked result: With earlier=no, a battery-included package and at least a 1/2-in chuck returns 57 current-reference configurations, including XT288T through its XPH14Z drill and two listed packs. Read the XT288T kit assessment and apply all three exact filters.
Cycle 94 checked result: With earlier=no, a battery-included package and at least a 1/2-in chuck returns 56 current-reference configurations, including CX205RB and CX203SYB at the inclusive 0.5-in bit-shank boundary; neither 5-7/8-in nor 6-1/2-in overall length documents tool-head clearance. CX205RB is the hammer kit and CX203SYB is the plain driver-drill. Apply all three conditions.
Updated matcher result (2026-11-01): With earlier=no, a battery-included package and at least a 1/2-in chuck returns 54 current-reference configurations. XT296SMR and XT296ST qualify through XPH16Z, whose drill chuck is documented at 1/2 in. The older tally below is superseded. Read XT296SMR, XT296ST and XT297T; apply all three choices in the finder.
Decision: With earlier=no, a battery-included package and at least a 1/2-in chuck returns 46 configurations. Current Makita LXT kit XAD03PT joins through its keyed 1/2-in chuck; XAD04PT includes batteries but misses the chuck rule with its 7/16-in hex sleeve. Makita combo kits XT299T, XT616T, XT617T and GT202SU1D1 join through their named XPH/GPH hammer-drill components; Cycle 88 adds GT200D, GT401M1D1 and GT500M the same way. Each combo's impact driver is a separate tool. Current XGT kit GFD01D and Bosch's GSR18V-755CB25 and hammer-drill kits GSB18V-755CB25, GSB18V-975CB25 and GSB18V-490B12 also meet the inclusive 0.5-in boundary. Bosch's GSR18V-535FCB15 matches through its included 1/2-in chuck attachment and 4Ah CORE18V battery, but has no integrated hammer mode. Tool-only GSB18V-755CN is outside the battery-included branch. PS130-2A and CT232RX fail the chuck threshold with 3/8-in drill chucks.
A 3/8-in chuck has a 0.375-in shank limit, below the 0.5-in threshold. Current CT232 and FD09R1 share the 3/8-in drill format, while FD10R1 uses a 1/4-in hex interface rather than a conventional chuck. For a documented half-inch example, compare DCD794D1, new current XGT kit GFD01D, GFD03SU1 and XFD10SY; a chuck dimension remains separate from material-specific hole limits.
apply current-only, battery-included and half-inch-chuck conditions together.
The Bosch PS31-2A lists two batteries but has a 3/8-in chuck, and the PS21-2A lists two batteries but has a 1/4-in hex holder; neither reaches the 0.5-in chuck boundary in this current-only setting. The PS130-2A kit also lists two batteries but its shared PS130 body has only a 3/8-in chuck; tool-only PS130N fails the package condition and has the same below-threshold chuck.
With earlier=no, a battery-included package plus a half-inch chuck returns 46 products, including XFD17S1, XPH17S1, and the three new GT kits GT200D, GT401M1D1 and GT500M. Bosch's GSB18V-975CB25 and GSB18V-490B12 are distinct hammer-drill kit matches, while drill/driver GSR18V-535FCB15 adds the included FlexiClick 1/2-in chuck and CORE18V 4Ah battery. The GT200D lists two BL4025 2.5Ah packs, GT401M1D1 mixes BL4025/BL4040, and GT500M lists two BL4040 4.0Ah. XAD05T remains excluded because it is an earlier kit; the current XAD05Z is tool-only, and neither current XAD06Z nor earlier XAD06T has a 1/2-in chuck. The listed BL1830B batteries do not resolve either 17-series kit's conflicting charger statements. Use the same current-only package-and-chuck choices in the finder.
Cycle 99 interaction update: With earlier=no, a battery-included package plus a half-inch chuck returns 61 current-reference configurations; XT505 qualifies through two BL1830B packs and XPH10Z, but the full kit adds four more tools. Compare its kit contents and tradeoffs; use the same three choices in the finder.
Cycle 111 earlier/chuck interaction: With earlier=yes, an included battery required and a half-inch chuck required, 72 configurations match: 69 current-reference packages plus three earlier packages. GSR18V-975CB25 remains current-reference and qualifies at its documented 1/2-in chuck; its 7.6-in product length is not a six-inch head measurement. Read the CB25 review or apply these same three finder choices.
Cycle 107 interaction check: With earlier=yes, the same five Cycle 107 current-reference Bosch GXL packages match battery-included plus 1/2-in chuck; none becomes an earlier variant. GXL18V-233B25 GXL18V-227B25 GXL18V-260B26 GXL18V-497B23 GXL18V-240B22 Use this same-condition finder.
Cycle 102 interaction check: With earlier=yes, a battery-included package and a half-inch chuck returns 65 configurations: 62 current-reference and three earlier packages; GXL18V-496B22 remains current-reference with two listed packs and a 1/2-in DDS181A chuck. Use the same earlier-enabled, battery and chuck conditions.
Half-inch bit-shank capacity with earlier packages enabled
Cycle 97 checked result: With earlier=yes, a battery-included package and at least a 1/2-in chuck returns 62 configurations: 59 current-reference and three earlier entries; XT281S remains a current LXT kit. Read the XT281S kit assessment and keep all three conditions.
Cycle 95 checked result: With earlier=yes, a battery-included package and at least a 1/2-in chuck returns 60 configurations: 57 current-reference and three earlier entries; XT288T remains a current LXT kit. See the XT288T review and keep all three conditions.
Cycle 94 checked result: With earlier=yes, a battery-included package and at least a 1/2-in chuck returns 59 configurations: 56 current-reference matches plus three earlier entries, including distinct CX205RB hammer and CX203SYB plain-drill kits; their overall lengths are not head measurements. See the exact CX205RB and CX203SYB reviews; apply all three finder choices.
Updated matcher result (2026-11-01): With earlier=yes, a battery-included package and at least a 1/2-in chuck returns 57 configurations: 54 current-reference matches plus three earlier entries. XT296SMR and XT296ST remain current battery kits; the manual-backed 1/2-in chuck belongs to XPH16Z. The older tally below is superseded. Read XT296SMR, XT296ST and XT297T; apply all three choices in the finder.
Decision: With earlier=yes, a battery-included package and at least a 1/2-in chuck returns 49 configurations, including current Makita kits GT200D, GT401M1D1 and GT500M through their named GPH01Z drill component. The current XAD03PT kit also qualifies through its keyed 1/2-in chuck; XAD04PT and discontinued XAD04Z use 7/16-in hex holders and remain below the boundary. Current Makita combos XT299T, XT616T, XT617T and XGT GT202SU1D1 also qualify through their named XPH/GPH drill components. Earlier XAD05T joins through its keyed 1/2-in chuck; the 7/16-in hex holder on XAD06T remains below the threshold. Current GFD01D, Bosch drill/driver GSR18V-755CB25 and GSR18V-535FCB15 (with its 1/2-in chuck attachment and included 4Ah battery), hammer-drill GSB18V-755CB25, GSB18V-975CB25 and GSB18V-490B12, and earlier kits GFD02D/GPH01D meet the inclusive 0.5-in shank-fit rule; CT232RX remains outside because its drill chuck is 3/8 in (0.375 in).
The current Makita XAD03PT is a battery-included package with a keyed 1/2-in chuck; the three GT kits above are distinct bundle choices that meet the chuck rule through GPH01Z.
Enabling earlier packages does not relax the 0.5-in bit-shank threshold. The older CT232RX flyer identifies the same 3/8-in FD09Z drill and a separate DT03Z impact driver; that impact driver is not a 1/2-in drill chuck. The current CT232, FD09R1 and FD10R1 reviews show why these interfaces must not be conflated.
For half-inch examples that remain in the set, see DCD794D1, current XGT GFD01D and GFD03SU1, earlier compact XGT GFD02D and GPH01D, or LXT XFD10SY; apply the same three conditions in the finder.
The Bosch PS31-2A, PS21-2A and PS130-2A remain excluded under this earlier-enabled setting: their listed batteries do not change the 3/8-in PS31/PS130 chucks or 1/4-in PS21 hex interface into a 0.5-in chuck. The tool-only PS130N also misses the 0.5-in boundary; neither lifecycle selection changes the shared 3/8-in body interface.
With earlier=yes, an included battery plus a half-inch chuck returns 49 packages, including current-reference XFD17S1, XPH17S1 and the three GT hammer-drill kits GT200D, GT401M1D1 and GT500M, plus earlier keyed-chuck XAD05T; the included-battery hex-holder XAD06T is excluded by the chuck boundary. Bosch GSB18V-975CB25, GSB18V-490B12 and GSR18V-535FCB15 remain distinct kit matches; enabling earlier also adds GFD02D and GPH01D. Keep both conditions and include earlier packages in the finder.
Cycle 99 interaction update: With earlier=yes, a battery-included package and a half-inch chuck returns 64 configurations: 61 current-reference and three earlier packages; XT505 remains current-reference with the same two-pack package. Review the XT505 five-tool set; apply the same three choices in the finder.
Cycle 111 Bosch-platform/chuck interaction: Bosch 18V / AMPShare plus the inclusive half-inch chuck condition returns 22 current-reference configurations. GSR18V-975CB25 qualifies through the included GSR body's 1/2-in chuck; its GSR mode is rotation-only, unlike the separate GSB hammer model. Read the CB25 review or apply both same-condition finder choices.
Cycle 110 Bosch-platform/chuck interaction: Bosch 18V / AMPShare plus a documented chuck capacity of at least 0.5 in returns 21 current-reference configurations, including GSR18V-400B12 at the exact 0.5-in boundary. Its 6.3-in head does not meet a strict ≤6-in limit. Read the B12 assessment or apply the same two finder conditions.
Cycle 107 interaction check: All five Cycle 107 packages meet Bosch 18V plus the inclusive half-inch drill-chuck condition; their GSB manual capacities are separate from bit-shank capacity. GXL18V-233B25 GXL18V-227B25 GXL18V-260B26 GXL18V-497B23 GXL18V-240B22 Use this same-condition finder.
Cycle 102 interaction check: Combining Bosch 18V / AMPShare with documented chuck capacity of at least 0.5 in returns fifteen current-reference configurations; GXL18V-496B22 qualifies through its DDS181A 1/2-in chuck, while the included impact tool remains a separate function. Use the same Bosch-platform and chuck requirements.
Bosch 18V / AMPShare plus a 1/2-in bit-shank requirement
Decision: Combining Bosch 18V / AMPShare with documented chuck capacity of at least 0.5 in returns fourteen current-reference configurations; it excludes GRD18V-127HXN because its documented interface is 7/16-in hex.
The distinct GRD18V-127N remains in the result with its keyed 1/2-in chuck. The exact HXN page and 2025 GRD family manual identify a 7/16-in hex-keyless interface, which is 0.4375 in and below the 0.5-in cutoff. The page's conflicting Includes line is not a reason to relabel HXN as keyed; it is a separate package check that must be kept visible. Other Bosch 18V matches include documented 1/2-in configurations, but the 0.5-in question describes bit-shank fit, not a safe hole size in any material.
Review the keyed 127N, compare the 7/16-in HXN interface, and consider a conventional chuck example such as GSB18V-490B12. Apply both Bosch 18V / AMPShare and 1/2-in-or-larger chuck choices in the finder.
Cycle 112: the GSR18V-1330CB14 at the half-inch boundary
The inclusive 0.5-in chuck choice now returns 114 current-reference configurations; the GSR18V-1330CB14 manual lists a 1/2-in chuck and separately gives a 5/8-in mild-metal maximum. The chuck figure concerns bit-shank fit; the manual's material maximum is not an independent test or general hole-size promise. Read the GSR kit assessment or use the same half-inch chuck condition.
With earlier=no, included battery and a half-inch-or-larger chuck return 75 current-reference configurations; GSR18V-52B12 and GSR18V-52B22 both state the 1/2-in chuck and 5.7-in head, with different listed pack counts. The packages are current-reference and the GSR's model-specific 2Ah battery identity remains unspecified. Compare GSR18V-52B12, GSR18V-52B22, GSR18V-1330CB14, GXL18V-241B22, GXL18V-498B22, GRD18V-127B26X, or apply all three same-condition choices.
With earlier=yes, included battery plus a half-inch-or-larger chuck returns 78 configurations: 75 current-reference packages plus three earlier entries; the two GSR18V-52 package variants remain current-reference. GSR18V-52B12 lists one 2Ah pack and B22 lists two; neither page names the pack model. Compare GSR18V-52B12, GSR18V-52B22, GSR18V-1330CB14, GXL18V-241B22, GXL18V-498B22, GRD18V-127B26X, or apply the same three choices.
Bosch 18V / AMPShare plus an inclusive half-inch chuck returns 29 current-reference configurations; GSR18V-52B12 and GSR18V-52B22 both have a listed 1/2-in GSR18V-52 drill, with one versus two 2Ah packs. The Bosch page does not specify pack or charger models, and the GSR is a rotation-only drill/driver rather than a hammer model. Compare GSR18V-52B12, GSR18V-52B22, GSB18V-65N, or apply both same-condition finder choices.
Cycle 113: chuck opening versus material capacity
The inclusive 0.5-in chuck choice returns 125 current-reference configurations. The new GSB18V-535CB15, GSB18V-490N and GSB18V-1330CB14 all list the half-inch GSB hammer-drill body; their distinct packages are one 4Ah kit, one tool-only package and one named 8Ah kit. Each model's manual capacity is separate from chuck opening, so a half-inch chuck is not a promise of a half-inch hole in every material. Compare CB15, 490N, CB14, GSB18V-65B12, GSB18V-65N, GSR18V-52B12, GSR18V-52B22 and GXL18V-28B22; show all matches for the same half-inch-chuck choice. The 0.5-in value is bit-shank fit, not a material-hole rating.
Bosch 18V / AMPShare plus an inclusive half-inch chuck returns 34 current-reference configurations. GSB18V-535CB15, GSB18V-490N and GSB18V-1330CB14 add three GSB hammer-drill bodies with this chuck size but different kit contents: a 4Ah kit, a bare tool and a named 8Ah kit. Their stated product lengths do not establish tool-head measurements, so they do not prove short-head fit. Compare CB15, 490N, CB14, GSB18V-65B12 and GXL18V-28B22 or apply both same-condition finder choices.
