A useful fit for

A Bosch 18V buyer looking for a lower-capacity two-battery hammer-drill package with a 1/2-in chuck and a separate impact tool can assess this exact GXL18V-240B22 kit.

The main tradeoff

Bosch does not name either 2Ah pack or charger model, so existing-system compatibility requires checking labels. The drill head length is not stated, and the GSB manual’s speeds differ from the exact page claims. Confirm the auxiliary handle: the GSB manual requires one but the written package list does not name it.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does GXL18V-240B22 include hammer-drilling mode?

Yes. Bosch lists the GSB18V-490 hammer drill/driver in the exact kit, and its manual documents a hammer-drilling selector/mode. This is not a guarantee for every masonry bit or material.

Explore this need in the finder →
Is this a Bosch 18V battery-platform package with batteries included?

Yes. Bosch lists this kit as an 18V package and the exact Includes list names two batteries (models/capacities are recorded separately above); verify pack labels and compatibility for an existing charger or battery.

Explore this need in the finder →
Will the included drill accept a 1/2-in shank?

Yes. The included GSB18V-490 has a manufacturer-documented 1/2-in chuck. This is chuck/shank capacity, not a hole-size or drilling-material rating.

Explore this need in the finder →
Is the drill head six inches long or less?

The exact kit page does not state the included drill’s tool-head length, so no six-inch clearance claim is made. Measure the tool, bit, hand and approach allowance for the actual space.

This review is based on Bosch’s exact U.S. package page and linked GSB18V-490 operating instructions. It is not a hands-on test or a claim of measured performance.

A two-tool kit with the lower-capacity battery pair

The exact GXL18V-240B22 package includes the GSB18V-490 18V hammer drill/driver and GDX18V-1800 two-in-one impact driver/wrench, plus two 18V standard-power 2Ah batteries, an 18V charger, two belt clips and a carrying bag. Bosch does not name the two battery models or charger model in the written Includes list. The package page’s battery description is the reliable differentiator from the very similar GXL18V-233B25, which lists two named 4Ah CORE18V packs. Neither suffix should be treated as a harmless color or retail variation: the included power accessories differ.

One drill, one separate fastening tool

The GSB18V-490 is the drill in this kit. Bosch’s linked manual identifies a 1/2-inch keyless chuck, two speed ranges with no-load maxima of 600 and 1,900 rpm in the linked manual, hammer action at 22,000 beats per minute, and 20 screwdriving clutch settings. Bosch’s separate GSB18V-490B12 page lists 460/1,800 rpm for the same drill body, an unresolved manufacturer-source difference. The exact product page states up to 490 in-lb of maximum torque. Those are manufacturer specifications, not results from a comparative test. The manual’s maximum capacities are 1/2 inch in mild metal, 1-1/2 inches in hard wood, 2 inches in soft wood and 1/2 inch in masonry. They are material-specific limits; the chuck opening is a bit-shank interface, not a promise to drill a hole of that diameter in every material.

The GDX18V-1800 is a distinct impact driver/wrench. Bosch describes its quick-change 1/4-inch hex bit holder and 1/2-inch square-drive socket interface. That can be useful when a job alternates between holes and fasteners, but an impact tool does not replace the GSB’s chuck or provide the GSB’s hammer-drilling mode. Keep the right bits and sockets with the corresponding body.

What the 2Ah batteries do—and do not—tell you

Two batteries are included, so this is not a bare-tool offer. The written kit list specifies 2Ah standard-power packs but leaves their model numbers open. Capacity is a useful package comparison, but it does not establish actual runtime for a particular bit, material, torque setting or work cycle. Bosch names only an 18V charger, so check its label and compatibility rather than assuming a model from another kit’s listing or photograph.

Handling and dimensional limits

The GSB18V-490 manual instructs the operator to use auxiliary handles. Bosch’s exact package list does not name an auxiliary handle, so check whether one is supplied and obtain the correct accessory before depending on hammer action. Do not infer package contents from a staged product image. Bosch also gives no GSB18V-490 tool-head length on the GXL18V-240B22 page. The model therefore cannot be represented as meeting an essential six-inch-or-shorter head requirement; unknown clearance is not evidence that the drill physically cannot fit.

Compared with GXL18V-233B25, the 240B22 keeps the same two-tool lineup but specifies two 2Ah standard-power packs instead of two 4Ah CORE18V packs. The GXL18V-497B23 shares the GSB18V-490 and GDX18V-1800 as well, then adds a circular saw and worklight; its listed battery pair is one 4Ah plus one 2Ah. If those extra tools are unwanted, they do not make the 497 the same configuration. If they are needed, compare its exact contents rather than treating the four-tool label as a drill upgrade.

Fit the package to the job

This is a package to consider when a buyer wants Bosch 18V drilling and impact fastening in one purchase and prefers that two batteries be listed. Its 1/2-inch chuck and manual-documented hammer mode meet those specific capability screens, but that is not a recommendation for every masonry job. Confirm the intended material, bit, hole, handle, battery compatibility and exact carton list. The product listing is not a promise of current retailer availability, price, seller condition or delivered stock.

Check the full GXL18V-240B22 suffix before ordering: the battery-included 2Ah kit is distinct from the higher-capacity 233 package and from the four-tool 497. For a more advanced Bosch 18V connected-ready hammer drill pairing, also compare the GXL18V-227B25 and its separate connectivity-module and weight-basis caveats.
