A useful fit for

A DEWALT 20V MAX kit for a buyer who wants the DCD805 hammer drill/driver with two listed 2Ah batteries, a named DCB112 charger and a bag in the same exact package.

The main tradeoff

The package uses two 2Ah DCB203 packs, not a larger-capacity battery. It is a different buy from DCD805B tool-only; published package contents do not establish runtime, charge time or seller stock.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Which batteries, charger and storage are named for DCD805D2?

The exact D2 product page lists two DCB203 2Ah 20V MAX batteries, a DCB112 charger, a kit bag and a belt hook with the DCD805 drill. Do not transfer those items to the DCD805B tool-only SKU.

Is DCD805D2 a different drill mechanism from DCD805B?

The package page identifies the included machine as DCD805, and both exact pages link to the DCD800/DCD805 Type 1 manual. The documented difference assessed here is package contents: the D2 adds the two batteries, DCB112 charger and bag; the B page lists the bare tool and belt hook.

What should I check before treating the 2Ah kit as ready for my job?

Confirm the exact DCD805D2 label and two DCB203 packs, then check the intended material, bit class and mode against the DCD805 manual. The package list does not establish runtime for a particular job, and the manual’s capacities are maker recommendations rather than a test guarantee.

Research-based assessment · exact DEWALT US DCD805D2 package page and linked Type 1 manual checked 29 October 2026

DCD805D2 is DEWALT’s battery-included kit built around the same DCD805 brushless 1/2-in hammer drill/driver assessed in the tool-only DCD805B listing. The important distinction here is the exact box: the US kit page names two batteries, a charger, a bag and a belt hook. I have not bought or tried this kit; the review interprets its written contents and published instructions rather than reporting test results.

The kit’s value is in its exact contents

DEWALT lists one DCD805 drill, two DCB203 20V MAX 2Ah batteries, one DCB112 charger, one kit bag and one belt hook. That makes DCD805D2 materially different from DCD805B, which lists the tool and belt hook while selling the battery and charger separately. The two packs give the package a spare battery on paper, but this review has not measured charge time, runtime or how long either pack lasts in a particular material. Battery capacity alone is not a promise of a number of holes or fastening cycles.

The included charger is identified as DCB112 in the exact page’s list. The page does not provide a separate charging-time result for this package. If you already own DEWALT packs, compare the exact battery models and condition of your existing equipment against what this kit supplies before deciding whether the second battery is useful or redundant. If a seller bundles a different charger or bag, that is not the same written configuration unless its listing clearly says so.

The DCD805 machine adds a hammer-drill mode

Under the kit contents is a 20V MAX XR brushless DCD805 with a metal 1/2-in ratcheting chuck, variable trigger and two speed settings. DEWALT lists no-load ranges of 0–650 and 0–2,000 rpm and describes a compact 7-in tool-head size. The head-length claim is not the length of a fully equipped drill with battery and bit, nor does it predict whether a hand can fit beside the work. Measure the actual space and the path needed to keep the bit aligned.

The linked DCD800/DCD805 Type 1 manual gives the DCD805 drilling, screwdriving and hammer-drilling modes, with 1–15 screwdriving positions. The numbers adjust torque for driving fasteners; they are not fifteen speed steps. When the collar is in ordinary drilling or hammer drilling, the clutch is inactive. The manual warns that overload can produce a sudden twist, so a controlled grip and a firmly supported workpiece matter more than a headline speed number. Stop the motor before changing gears or rotation direction.

For a sense of task boundaries, the manual’s DCD805 column lists maximum-recommended values by bit/material: 1-1/2 in for wood auger and paddle bits, 1 in for wood twist bits, 2-9/16 in for self-feed bits, 3 in for wood hole saws, 1/2 in for metal twist bits, 1-1/2 in for metal hole saws and 1/4 in for a carbide masonry bit. These are DEWALT recommendations, not results from our own drilling. The chuck’s 1/2-in capacity is about shank fit, not a universal hole-size rating.

Lighting and small-space claims have limits

DEWALT describes an adjustable three-position LED rated up to 70 lumens. The manual explains the spotlight mode’s 20-minute shutoff and a warning that the light should not be stared at. The bag is useful for carrying the kit as listed, but the page does not provide a full tool-and-battery working envelope. A bag also does not protect an installed bit or guarantee that the drill fits a tight service opening.

The page advertises improved UWO against the DCD796 when used with specified packs, but no comparison test was performed for this review. The stated battery count and capacity do not independently establish power under load or time on the job. Compare these kit details with the exact seller package, rather than treating the photo or another suffix’s included items as proof.

Who should compare the D2 kit?

This configuration may suit a buyer who needs a 1/2-in drill/driver that also documents hammer drilling and wants two small-format batteries, a named charger and a bag in the box. The tradeoff is that someone with a full set of compatible batteries and charging equipment may pay for duplicates. A tool-only buyer should compare DCD805B directly; the drill function is shared, but its package does not include the D2 kit’s two batteries, DCB112 or bag. A regular drill/driver may be a simpler match when hammer mode is not essential.

The DEWALT US safety-notice snapshot checked for this assessment did not show a DCD805 entry. That is only a dated observation of one index, not a safety certification or continuing recall guarantee. Confirm the DCD805D2 suffix, two DCB203 packs, DCB112 charger and kit bag on the exact package label, then read the current manual for the planned bit and material. No runtime, loaded speed, comfort, vibration, heat or durability testing has been performed.
