Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Which battery is included with DCD800P1?
DEWALT lists one DCB205 5.0Ah battery, a DCB112 charger, bag and belt hook. It is not the two-pack D2, D1E1 or E2 configuration.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the DCB205 5.0Ah label guarantee working time?
No. The capacity label does not establish minutes, holes or screws per charge; actual runtime was not measured for this assessment.
Explore this need in the finder →Is DCD800P1 the DCD800 hammer-drill kit?
No. The DCD800/DCD805 manual lists hammer drilling for DCD805, while DCD800 has drilling and screwdriving modes.

DCD800P1 is a DEWALT 20V MAX XR brushless 1/2-in drill/driver kit with one named DCB205 5.0Ah battery. The manufacturer page also lists a DCB112 charger, bag and belt hook. This assessment separates those package contents from the capabilities of the DCD800 drill itself. It is based on the exact US product page and manual, not ownership or hands-on testing.
One 5.0Ah pack is the package distinction
The P1 page lists a single DCB205 5.0Ah pack. Its kit image visually shows a large battery on the drill, a DCB112 charger and a bag, while the written Includes list names the DCB205, charger, bag and belt hook. DEWALT’s text controls the package decision; verify the model suffix and written contents on the actual offer. P1 is not the two-battery DCD800D2 bundle, the mixed D1E1 kit or the two-DCBP034 E2 configuration.
A 5.0Ah label tells you the capacity class of the included battery, not the number of holes, screws or minutes you will get. Work material, bit type, load, temperature, tool settings and battery condition affect runtime. This assessment does not infer that P1 is faster or more powerful than the other DCD800 kits solely because its one included battery has a higher Ah figure. DEWALT’s relative output claims are manufacturer statements with specified battery pairings, not comparisons reproduced here.
Same drill, same functional boundaries
The DCD800 machine is a brushless 20V MAX XR drill/driver with a 1/2-in metal ratcheting chuck, variable-speed trigger and two ranges, 0–650 and 0–2,000 rpm. DEWALT states a 6.37-in tool-head length and an adjustable three-position, three-mode LED with up to 70 lumens; the spotlight mode is described with a 20-minute shutoff. These figures are maker specifications and the length is not a full working clearance. A battery below the handle, chuck, bit and operator’s hand all need room.
Most importantly, P1 is not the family’s hammer-drill variant. The DCD800/DCD805 manual gives DCD800 drilling and screwdriving modes, with 1–15 clutch positions; its hammer-drilling symbol is specifically under DCD805. Adding a larger battery or buying a bundled kit does not add hammer action. The manual leaves DCD800’s masonry capacity blank, so a masonry-first buyer should not mistake the 1/2-in chuck for a material rating.
Use the manual’s capacities and precautions
DEWALT’s maximum-recommended table for DCD800 lists wood capacities by bit type: 1-1/2 in for auger and paddle bits, 1 in for twist bits, 2-9/16 in for self-feed bits and 3 in for hole saws. For metal it lists 1/2-in twist bits and 1-1/2-in hole saws. Those are manufacturer recommendations, not independently measured limits, and do not fill the blank masonry entry.
The numbered collar adjusts screwdriving torque; higher numbers select higher torque, but the correct setting depends on the work. Start with lower settings and test carefully. In drill mode the clutch does not engage, and the manual warns the drill may stall under overload and twist suddenly. Clamp the workpiece, maintain a secure grip and stop the tool before changing speed or rotation. Read the current instructions for the specific bit and task rather than relying on a battery label or review shorthand.
When P1 may make sense—and when it may not
P1 is worth comparing if you want one named 5.0Ah DCB205 with the DCD800, DCB112 charger and carry bag in one package. It may be unnecessarily large as a purchase if you want two interchangeable packs or already have batteries and charger; D2, D1E1 and E2 each list a two-pack arrangement, while B omits the battery and charger. Those alternatives change the carton, not the DCD800 modes, chuck or stated tool-head dimension.
DEWALT describes the P1 package as an optimized-performance drill kit, but supplies no independent runtime or weight measurement in the sources reviewed here. The tool-only weight, battery-attached weight, balance, loaded speed, heat and durability remain unconfirmed. The captured DEWALT US safety notice index showed no DCD800 listing on 28 October 2026; this is not a guarantee against a later notice.
Check that the seller’s listing is DCD800P1 rather than another DCD800 package, and verify one DCB205 5.0Ah battery, DCB112 charger, bag and belt hook. Confirm battery/charger compatibility in the instructions and remember this is a drill/driver without documented hammer mode. DEWALT DCD800P1 product page · DCD800/DCD805 Type 1 manual
